Same. The first chapter was neat, but then it immediately just felt… amateurish? I don’t know. I think of it as a bad-YA feeling (as opposed to good YA, which I know there is a ton of). I looked it up and read that it was basically horny fairy fanfic and returned it to the library.
Oof, audio transcripts are a rough format. I produce them for a living and can’t think why someone would want to read them for fun.

I haven’t read that book but hard agree on the library comment. I have tried such a variety of books (some of them turning into loves) just because I knew that I wouldn’t lose much if I didn’t like it.
If they fuck that up, so early on too, you can’t trust them to get anything right.
