The earlier books are a bit of a pastiche and parody of earlier fantasy fiction and I find them a bit rough. I think he relaxed into his writing style at Mort, which is a more confident book all round.
Wyrd Sisters more or less works as a standalone book as well, and I enjoy it very much.
A few years ago I tried to (re)read them in order and I enjoyed the experience, although he did repeat jokes a bit often. You could do worse than starting at the first one and ploughing through.
