It’s hard for sure.
One little thing I’ve done, because I tend to read before bed, is setting a ‘bed time’ on my phone after which it goes into grey scale mode. Amazing how much less distracting a dull grey screen is than a full colour one!
But really it’s just time that improves things, you have to build a habit by forcing yourself to do a thing until you suddenly realise you aren’t having to force it.
I found it incredibly gripping despite the mundanity. The banality of evil in full effect.
While you are free to think the writing is bad I suspect you’ll be in the minority there, it did win multiple literature awards.

Yeah as others have commented it was the “dream wife” aspect I didn’t much enjoy.
Personally it was very enjoyable for me because I love really crazy high-concept sci-fi. Apart from some obviously thin female characters I had no issue with the writing and I read an English translation.

No. This is an absolutely awful idea in my opinion.
As is the concept of re-writing classics, or any book really.
