I think, and maybe I’m slightly off, that they are trying(or at least tried) to bring it back. Some laws changed, and also… and this is more my opinion, it became less fun for them, too. It became stale, heavily repetitive, and somehow, they looked tired of that. Matsumoto alone is quite a perfectionist to keep the old, stale, and now even legally problematic format to continue.
