I’ve actually read that and funny enough it’s probably my favorite chapter in the entire book so far, so we might have different tastes in reading lol.
But out of all the digressions in the book, I think that one was actually pretty relevant because Moby Dick is described as ghastly white, so that entire chapter is basically foreshadowing Moby Dick’s reveal.
I’ve received many comments on this post saying they listened to the audiobook and enjoyed it so I’m assuming you might as well!
That being said, there’s so much archaic and sailor vocabulary in the book that you’re probably going to be confused by some sentences. I’m OCD about understanding every line so when I read the paperback I was googling multiple words every chapter. BUT you can definitely understand the story without doing that.
