I tried to read The Hobbit in middle school and super noped on it. Then in high school I read The Fellowship of the Ring and made it about half way through The Two Towers and just couldn’t be bothered to read further. I really enjoyed some of those two first installments, but I low-key hated plenty other elements of them, they digress boringly too often, I mean, it includes fucking made up languages.

I remember reading it and being so excited that there were people who were able to so thoroughly and convincingly articulate what was implicit in my mind but was unable to articulate given my age and stage of education.
Completely changed my understanding of state power and socio-political economy.

Ulysses is the worst book I’ve tried to read, couldn’t make it. It wasn’t the language, it was the “stream of consciousness” unreadable gibberish.
I gave it one go, couldn’t do it, and Will Not try to again.
