I have a broad spectrum of approach and use everything to get the best price. I use Libby which doesn’t always have the books I want but it’s useful. I use Chirp for deals. I use Apple because they sometimes have books I’m looking for at little cost. Audible is my usual though. I buy extra credits but often the book I want has a price lower than the cost of a credit. I just bought something for $3 instead of using an $11 credit.
I can’t get Hoopla. Our library isn’t in the system yet. I did talk to the librarian about it though.

It may be a book of poems in the Cowboy tradition. It was probably privately produced.
This tradition also has a general art style. I love these works. You’re really lucky!

Back in the day only the well educated we’re able to publish books. The bar was high for manuscript acceptance. Nowadays anybody can get a book published and people buy them.

YES! For some reason they chose a woman with an Asian accent* and a non native English speaker to read The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down which is about Hmong immigrants in CA. The book is from the point of view of an American non-Asian woman who did extensive research and had a relationship with the Hmong family featured in the book. Not only is the reader’s accent pronounced, her pronunciation of common English words is inexplicable, i.e. it’s not British English. This is one of my favorite books I’ve read and I thought I’d enjoy listening to it. I couldn’t even finish it.
Because Grisham is a bit of a hack who rarely develops female characters enough to guess their motives. It provided a nice twist.
