He should just hire a ghost writer. His talents would have been more suited to soap opera writer rather than novel writer. He can keep multiple connected plot lines going on and on, but novels require an ending.
I wish I had read The Railway Children when I was young. When I was about 12 I got the 100 classic book collection DS cartridge and I read The Secret Garden, Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island, etc and I got pretty into classics. I think I would have appreciated The Railway Children more if I had read it at that age, unfortunately I didn’t have access to it. It wasn’t on the DS cartridge and there weren’t any copies in the school library.
Well I’ve read a few history books. Some are extremely dry and dull, some are written with an infectious enthusiasm. But also the writing skills of the author are important as well.
The Tracy Beaker books where she’s an adult, especially We Are The Beaker Girls. Although I actually took the opportunity to partake in a reading challenge and I read a whole load of new books during that time.
I’m happy to pay a bit more if the book contains colour illustrations, or has a particularly gorgeous binding. However my maximum for a single book is £35. Unless it’s a textbook that I’m told I have absolutely no choice but to purchase and second hand copies are unavailable.
