As many upsides there are to adapting a complete series to a show this is one downside of it.
The comic started in 2003 and ended in 2018 so its only natural that alot of people have read it, even more so since season 1 aired and the long time between seasons. So it is only natural that fans of the source material wants to discuss it the same way the fans if the adaptaion wants to.
I guess it also comes down to the mediums the spoilers come from, because not many sites/comunities have rules/moderators that try to keep things spoiler free.
Overall the best way to stay away from spoilers is to read the source material the second best is only engage with the content in areas where spoilers are atleast attempted limited and the last is probably to not engage with social media at all if spoilers are an issue for you.
