Oh yeah it’s all made for TV for sure. I live in India and being on a show like this is considered extreme trashy in the conservative crowd.

If they were really that traditional they’d just cut him off and refuse to be on the show. It’s not like he is their only son. If they somehow tolerate being on the show, they’d atleast pretend to be different for the cameras
