LostArtofConfusion@alien.topBtoBooks•Sure we all hate typos, but have you ever had a narrator mispronounce a word in audiobook format?English

1 year agoWe listened to an audiobook that took place in northern Minnesota. A character was eating onion pasties.
Pasty, the food, is pronounced past-ee. Pasty, the nipple covering is pronounced, paste-ee.
The narrator kept calling it an onion paste-ee, which made us howl. “Onion pasties would make the stripper cry!”
Just listened to an audiobook, Ben Aaronovitch’s “Winter Gifts.” The very British narrator was trying to do an American accent, and kept pronouncing “parka,” as “parker.” It was very distracting.
Pasties are a delicacy of the region, along with Wisconsin, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
