I’m listening to this now through Spotify. I live in Bozeman and there has been a lot of hype surrounding Class’ release. I am absolutely appalled at the writing and stories in Class. She has the opportunity to be a platform for impoverished individuals and single mothers, but instead re-enforces every negative stereotype related to the group.

She is 35 in the book and continues to make awful decisions without any accountability and half-assed attempts to blame the consequences on the “system”. She constantly judges other students’ privilege without realizing that the vast majority of students in college Montana also work almost full or full time (I went to school here and currently teach at the college level). The thing that upsets me the most throughout her writing, though, is her ability to leave her young daughter with a variety of men (either she is dating/sleeping with or are “friends”) as she goes out to have fun, work, or go to class. I understand child care is expensive, but the number of young women who grow up to report sexual assault is too high to have unvetted and random men care for your daughter.

I’m glad to see others have similar opinions regarding this book. I was excited to read Class ( I only watched Maid) as many reviews were singing its praises.
