Fonda Lee truly took me on an emotional journey that I won’t soon forget with her Green Bone Saga—a journey so intense that I doubt I’ll encounter its like again. I initially picked up the series only because Daniel Greene ranked it above the Age of Madness in one of his reviews. Frankly, the setting didn’t intrigue me at all. I was on the hunt for thrilling, “cool moments,” much like those found in Brandon Sanderson’s works, and I found myself repeatedly frustrated with the main character to the extent that I considered abandoning the book completely.
Despite the setting not initially drawing me in, despite my craving for the kind of high-octane scenes a Sanderson fan would yearn for, and despite my intense dislike for the protagonist at various points in the story, Fonda Lee’s writing won me over. By the conclusion of the series, I was deeply moved—filled with tears, joy, and a poignant sense of loss knowing that the saga had drawn to a close.

Alchemist can be either utter garbage or best book you ever read based on where are you currently in life. That is it. It serves as mirror to your own mind and makes you think.
