I totally agree, and I was left with a similar feeling after reading “The Maidens” by the same author. It’s not only the hype, I feel like both stories could have been compelling but just fell short.
If you are looking for another thriller, I really liked “the last flight” and “the lies I tell” by Julie Clark!
