  • I listened to a Stephen King book years ago (can’t remember which one) that was, as is often the case, set in New England. I grew up in New England and the narrator drove me insane mispronouncing the names of towns, and various other local-ish things. For instance in New England a milkshake is called a frappe, and it’s pronounced “frap”, correct french be damned. Natick MA is pronounced Nay-tick not Nat-ik. I was so angry i couldn’t enjoy the book. As a narrator, if you’ve never seen a word before you HAVE to check.
