11/22/63 is a very fun story. Like any author his writing isn’t for everyone and not all his books are good. SK creates some of the best characters I’ve read but he can be a bit wordy. I’m prepping myself to try and read IT in a few days but it’s HUGE.
Give a book a chance, maybe 60 pages or so but I highly recommend NOT “pushing through” a story that isn’t working for you. Turning something that should be enjoyable into a task is a quick way to burn out.
All of them. I disliked being told what to read.
I liked it a lot but I can’t exactly say why. Same with Station Eleven (terrifying but in the nicest way) which I am reading now. But I thought The Glass Hotel was a slog. Haven’t read The Lola Quartet yet. I don’t know, her writing is kinda like a walk on a nice beach…I’ve seen it before but for now, I’ll just keep walking because it’s pleasant…in the nicest way.
I read the first book a few months ago and enjoyed it and I’m a heck of a lot older than 20s. I plan on reading the others.
I grew up reading old sci-fi classics. These books remind me a lot of those. I enjoyed the concepts and bits about the cultural revolution. I haven’t read the third book though.
I liked Dark Matter, and Recursion for what they are, easy reading, interesting concepts. The writing isn’t anything special, and that’s OK. Upgrade was horrible though. It felt rushed and sloppy. I can imagine a publisher pushing for completion because of the topic and timing.
Yeah I’m not certain what it is about some fantasy readers, it’s like…“It doesn’t really get going until book five so just hang in there.”
Well, the one Lonesome Dove spoiled the entire damn book. ☹️
