Watching it again, I think what really set him off was her saying “I wish he was dead so I could grieve him.” That subtle hint that part of her still loves him is what pisses him off, cause he can’t understand how she could still have feelings for that monster. Not saying his actions were completely appropriate l, but I’m not sure I would’ve been any better.
