I think the biggest thing that separates the two shows is that the writers of invincible can make a decent ending lol
S3 and Gen V both had very flawed and rushed endings, whilst invincible knows how to take its time.

They’ve been powering over entire worlds, only needing one or two of themselves to bring entire solar systems to their knees.
They also survived the great purge, seen in s1-8 where the knife-hair woman can be seen. They would most likely have been conquering worlds during the sane time Nolan was relaxing on Earth.
They also most likely believed that Nolan may have grown weak with his newfound sympathies. They would be arrogant because they would all believe themselves equal to or more powerful than Nolan with their experience.
