It IS inspector Gadget; an 80s cartoon. However, if I remember correctly, there was a sitcom set on the beach called Gidget, about a sort of ditsy girl that was into surfing. Think Gilligan vibe except female. Dang it, now I have to go research it to see if I was imagining things.
