If you like historical fiction, try the Poldark series by Winston Graham. It takes place in Cornwall in the late 18th/early 19th centuries. These books are great—more immersive than the tv show, which only covers the first six books or so. The entire series is 12 books, published over the course of maybe 4 decades. It takes some time to complete, but it’s time well spent.

Rumor has it that, late in her career, she wrote quite a few techno-thrillers under the pen name “Tom Clancy”.
