Video games get a bad rep because a lot of gamers do it excessively. I think gaming addiction is way more common than most want to admit and that’s why it has the bad stereotype. Far too many people have experience with a partner, parent, sibling etc neglecting other parts of their lives and loved ones for gaming. Gaming is fine in moderation but there are too many people who think they’re gaming in moderation when they’re actually neglecting everyone around them for gaming. After experiencing it you tend to steer clear of those who say they game as hobby.
