First would be that Steve Harvey died immediately after coming back so it did kill him, and it’s safe to assume that even if Mark were good for one last burst like Steve, he would have also died.

Second would be that Nolan obviously thought that it would kill Steve Harvey so it was an anomaly that he came back, and it’s reasonable to assume that the lady thought that cutting his throat would kill him, especially since that’s deadlier than getting stabbed in the gut.
