Roald Dahl’s books and A Series of Unfortunate Events.
The BFG was my favorite book as a child for a long time, but really all of Dahl’s stories were magical. They made me see the world in a new way as a child that I still think about today.
I loved the humor and writing of the Unfortunate Events series. It was also really cool that there were so many books, and when I got to book 13 it had been such a long time I’d spent with the siblings that I had become so invested in their story.
Coraline was the book that marked the transition of reading more mature mature books. I remember finding it on the bookshelf of the school library and being so intrigued by the cover. My friend and I both checked out a copy and devoured the book. It’s one of my overall favorite reading experiences.
I said the same!
