I’ve never heard anything like that before! Reading isn’t age-gated, and is both enjoyable and beneficial at any age. Many readers (including myself) started way before their high school years. There were times when I didn’t read much, but those were times when my life got super busy.

Listen to audiobooks while you game! It’s awesome. You can get them free from the library if you have a library card. There are also some on YouTube.
