I’m not a very… ‘sharey’ person when it comes to my hobbies. Or anything, really. I prefer to play videogames alone - I even play MMOs alone but group up for activities which require it. I eat in cafes and restaurants alone. I go to the cinema alone. I go for long walks on my own. And I especially read on my own.
I read somewhere once that when you have a deep, profound experience - whether that’s finding a waterfall in the woods or reading a book that moves you, taking photos of it or sharing it with others… dilutes it. This person encouraged the reader to ‘keep some secrets for yourself.’
That resonated with me, so it’s rare that I seek to discuss what I’ve read with others; in some way it spoils the magic.
