OMG YES! Everybody was reading that in college and I never did. I read it about 10 years ago as I thought I was missing out on something (I wasn’t) and God almighty it was horrific. The actual bike trip was okay, but the “chataquas” or whatever that word was made me want to bang my head against the wall.
Thank you! A friend gave me The Life of Pi for Christmas with a handwritten note saying how it changed her life. Why? How? What? I hated that book.

I don’t understand why you think it’s weird to reread books for comfort even as a teen. I’m significantly older than you and my comfort books are the Nancy Drew series (first 53-ish books). I can’t count how many times I’ve reread them…along with The Boxcar Children.
