Returning to any books I loved as a child - Harry Potter (though not so much anymore), the Moomins, Beatrix Potter, picture books, other YA- is a grounding exercise for me. It’s like I get to shed the rough layers of my adult self and curl up in a warm blanket and go back to when I learned to love to read. One of my all-time favorite books is The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex. It’s such a unique and funny story and the narrator has always felt my age even as I’ve aged past her.
