hell yeah!!

fair warning that i wish i’d gotten: if you’re a read-in-bed-before-falling-asleep type of person, you’re gonna wanna watch out with this one. true nightmare fuel at times.

i’m embarrassed to say that it was the first book of hers that i’ve read. upon starting, i could immediately tell why she’s such a literary giant. i have parable of the talents on my shelf now but i need a breather before diving back into that world. i’m excited to read more of her stuff … when i’m ready lol

parable of the sower by octavia butler won’t leave my brain after finishing it last spring. i was on strike while reading it. so its ideas of kindness and long-term thinking versus selfishness and short-term rewards really hit me. plus it’s terrrrrrrrifying
