I love Ernest Hemingway. I love his terse, straightforward writing style. And you don’t need a penis to enjoy reading about fishing or any of the adventures in his other books, I don’t think.
Sometimes I like to read him while sipping on a glass of whiskey, which I know is most unladylike!
My partner isn’t a reader but like once a month we carve out time to read together because he knows how much i enjoy the quiet, low key quality time. It’s part of the give and take of our relationship. I join him in his hobbies sometimes even though they’re not my thing, and he reads with me sometimes. Maybe if you presented it like that? As an opportunity to spend time together doing something you enjoy. And then help recommend a book about a subject matter you know she enjoys. If she cant get into imagining the fantasy world of fictional books, maybe she could get into a nonfiction book about a topic that interests her.
It has been 10 years since I’ve read it so I can’t remember exactly what drew me in so much. I think mostly the fact that it mostly takes place within the wall of one old New Orleans mansion, and I’ve always had a fascination of old houses and the energy and history contained within. In some ways the house is a living, breathing character in its own right. Plus I just find the lore of witches more interesting than vampire lore
