Dickens must’ve been paid by the letter to write his books, my old English teacher told us at the beginning of studying Jekyll and Hyde that “Victorian writers tend to write 20 words when only 5 are needed” and I believe that it’s dickens fault why!

I’m going to get crucified for this but we studied Of Mice and Men at school. we had no cultural ties to the book because no one in our class was American and we had to do a whole week on the context, which was incredibly boring. if I see a PowerPoint on the american dream and the great depression ever again I will probably get violent.

only thing I remember from the book are rabbits and the husband of the made up sex doll keeping a glove on and lubing up his hand for his wife. teacher had tried to gloss over it but we just erupted into laughter. and the racial slurs my incredibly white English Teacher just loved saying. I genuinely don’t understand why it’s kept on a pedestal and worshipped by many.
