If you’re willing to go digital, Kindle Unlimited might be worth it. According to google-sensei there’s a trial offer of $0.99 a month for three months and then $11.99 a month after that. Their bread and butter seems to be more romance/YA inclined but they do have a decent broader fiction section and some sprinklings of most genres including lonely planet travel guides, some decent science books, some self-help, some cozy mysteries, etc.
Personally my vote is for library sales, but I figured I’d mention this option just to have it out there.
I just finished reading Some We Love, Some We Hate, and Some We Eat about that very topic. Good book, I recommend. Not sure how a hypothetical book in pop culture would land but hey, Disney did it with Bambi and Dumbo. I’m sure it can be done.
That’s actually what prompted me to pose this question, because book 7 just dropped and I would’ve liked to have more in-person people to share the hype with.
Upon reflection, I think Murderbot is damned near a perfect character but there just isn’t quite enough about the setting to hit that level of popularity.
