The Dark Forest is my favorite of what I consider to be an incredible pulp sci/speculative/fi trilogy. I feel it’s excellent, and don’t see at all how you could compare Cixin Liu’s writing, or Joel Martinsen, let alone Ken Liu’s, excellent translations, to Ayn Rand.

House of Leaves by Danielewski is one for me. I also loved Lincoln in the Bardot by George Saunders. Annihilation was also excellent. Bluets by Maggie Nelson is beautiful, though it isn’t fiction. I’ve started reading Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace and it’s fantastic so far.
