Amen! I was hoping for a new genre like the title implied. Southern Gothic novels are not the same as the British Gothic novels, as we all know, so I was expecting the same sort of variation. Instead…we got a typical British one (right down to the house and its owners), that just happens to be in Mexico. Ugh. My eyes are still rolling.
