Stick of truth made laugh out loud just like watching the show - I was super impressed at how not just the dialog was funny but the puzzles and game mechanics/controls themselves were funny - quite a nice feat of writing and game design.
Plus I loved that they kept it in the 2D style of the show, it absolutely felt like being authentically immersed in the show.
Fractured but whole was a little disappointing to me, maybe because I was so impressed with SOT; the mechanics felt a little standard for the game genre and overall just felt like the humor wasn’t as richly woven throughout the experience.
I also felt like the gameplay for FBW was a bit flat/one note throughout, so much so that I didn’t realize when I’d reached the end of the game and thought I must have missed a bunch of side missions. I even played the whole thing over again to see if I had missed something (I didn’t!) But it also has an amazing DLC level that set in Casa Bonita - to me the game is worth it for that level alone. They nailed the IRL Casa Bonita experience - even more so than the episode!
Yes same character. Based on the actor Fred Gwynne, and in particular the role he played in the film Pet Semetary.
Fun fact: Fred gwynne also wrote several successful children’s books that were all playing on wordplay and puns. “The King Who Rained” and “a chocolate moose for dinner” were two of my faves growing up
