I read My Year of Rest and Relaxation and as a former addict that stuff was really rough to stomach - and then I read Eileen. I loved that. Lapvona is on my to-read-list since it came out.

Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind, and two other books from the same series. Shannara by Terry Brooks. I stopped reading after the second book. Hell, even the MTV series was better than that. 50 Shades of Grey. I felt like I was losing braincells.
Fourth Wing, Lightlark, anything by Cassandra Clare …
Murakami: hard boiled wonderland, and many others
I’ll never read another booktok recommendation again.
I put down The Hunger Games after three pages. The style was just so minimalist, bleak and a constant…stopper. It didn’t read fluently at all, I felt every sentence wasn’t more than a fact, a statement, completely devoid of emotions or description.
I’m surprised nobody mentioned James Joyce yet. Finnegan’s Wake is 99,9% unreadable that’s how crazy that stuff is.
All books by Ottessa Moshfegh, especially Eileen. I’m thinking of ending things by Iain Reid. The Dark Star series by Marlon James. That stuff is wild. Edit: need to add Haruki Murakami, especially Hard-Boiled Wonderland.
Jacqueline Carey. I started Kushiel’s Dart and I was shocked about a kid feeling excited about being spanked. Tried again after some time and then inhaled the whole trilogy. It was a wild ride though. Now it’s my favourite book series since 2013.
