I’ve had “rashers of bacon” stuck in my head thanks to a certain author. Every table has a rasher of bacon.

Been reading the Realm of the Elderlings books by Robin Hobb. She captures the self-sabotaging thinking patterns and decisions of people with trust and trauma issues beautifully. Makes me think and assess my own patterns. I often find myself frustrated with a character (he’s doing it again!) and then realize, shit, I do that, too.
