I was in high school and all of my friends were telling me to read it. The books did nothing for me personally but the word-of-mouth was pretty strong.

This is a whole style of writing that drives me nuts. The Martian was written the same way. Feels like I’m reading a movie pitch.

There could have been such a good plot twist around that but instead it was just stupid.

Yes, Books have been the biggest savior for my sanity over the past few years. I had a really traumatic event and realized I just needed to not think. So I started reading audiobooks and just filled all of the empty space with them and it helped immensely. I basically healed my grief and anxiety with books.
