First Love by Joyce Carol Oates, Lolita by Vladamir Nabokov, and Juliette by Le Marquis de Sade.
I was 10-11, 12, and 14 and dealing with undisclosed CSA. I didn’t see the horror of these books until I reread them as an adult. As a kid, they validated my warped idea of love and affection. I used to write in the margins of my books and had to sit down and confront that I was not allowed to be a kid.
Lolita…actually, any books in which longstanding SA is involved and the victim ends up in a worse state than the perpetrator.
