Yep, same. I’m a massive overthinker lol so when I start a reading session it takes me a couple of pages to properly get into it - but after that my mind just switches off and I’m absorbed. Helps if it’s engaging and well written of course!

I DNF book one as I just found it a bit dull and the characters weren’t interesting in the slightest. I had high hopes at the start as the intro stuff surrounding the Cultural Revolution was really interesting, but the prose and characters just really struggled to grab my attention
Yeah the ending of the movie is 10/10. But I do feel that movie gets too much recognition solely because of its ending. The rest of it feels like straight to TV trash
