Bunch of (famous) scientists were also scifi writers. Carl Sagan (Contact), Fred Hoyle (bunch of novels, Black Cloud is great oldschool fun).
And always cracks me up that Gene Wolfe, one of the best (if not best) scifi writers of all times gave us also Pringles making machine…
