A terrifying portrayal of a society that fast descends into violent fascism. I thought it was scarily believable.

By quite some margin for me the book I read this year that I am already wanting to re-read, is I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman. Incredible.

A shout-out to Prophet Song by Paul Lynch which still haunts my nightmares.

I really like Iain Reid. Both I’m Thinking Of Ending Things and We Spread I really enjoyed. But my favourite from him is Foe. That stayed with me.

I read The Martian Chronicles earlier this year and I just think it is incredible. It has stayed with me long after reading. Especially as we continue to see the legacies, and active unfolding, violent colonisation.
