I’ve been telling everyone that it was an incredibly satisfying ending. I liked getting that huge time jump to see things play out, and the way it wrapped up with the callback to the Omni Man fight was just beautiful

Dude I was in shambles when I read this page last week for so many reasons but this was a big one. “I’d still have you dad” is my favorite line from season one and seeing that pay off like this all the way at the end of the series was incredible
I’m only halfway through the comics but so far the show is a really faithful adaptation but it’s not exactly the same. Certain events are shifted around and characters get a lot more development. But mostly it’s all very representative of what the comic did/was trying to do.
For example (no spoilers), Mark’s mission to mars doesn’t happen in the comics until after Omni-Man leaves earth. The plot with DA Sinclair and his Reanimen is spread out as a subplot across a lot of issues rather than one condensed story like in the season one episode. Most of the changes are stuff like that.
Hmm idk I wouldn’t say any of that is modernizing as much as it is just developing it for a new medium. I’m only halfway through the entire series but so far the comic features Mark sulking a lot. He struggles with a lot of the experiences he goes through and that’s what makes him a really interesting character to me. Its slightly different from how it plays out in the books but I wouldn’t call it “humiliating”. He knows he’s struggling and he thinks having Cecil to guide him will help him get back on track. If dude isn’t allowed to lose fights or have emotional struggles then he wouldn’t be that compelling of a character imo.
Ultimately I see what he was doing and he had great ideas but he was also a selfish dickhead and did a lot of things that made me hate him. Particularly trapping Mark in the other dimension and lying to Eve about it. Then Cecil…
It felt pretty bleak to have him left as just a brain but I also couldn’t argue against it as a good solution.
