The first three The Girl With… by Larsson. I put off starting thinking it wasn’t my thing but once I started, I was hooked.i raced through the last two, buying them on my kindle because I couldn’t wait the weekend to borrow them from my work friend. So addictive.
Most of Hemingway’s books. Every time I read him I walk away thinking what an overrated writer he is. Though I like his choice in cats. Gotta respect that.
I think that many teachers over analyze books. For teenagers this requires more patience than they have and they decide they hate reading.
You read Hunger Games for SCHOOL? Wow, what a waste. Did your teacher assign Twilight afterwards? Ugh. I think my high school teacher did a good job of making some difficult reading (Beowulf, the Canterbury Tales etc) accessible and I liked the authors she introduced - Margaret Atwood, Toni Morrison, George Orwell etc. But reading Johnny Tremain in middle school totally sucked. And freshman English in college was awful - the books were fine, the prof was useless.
