I really kept on reading TBP because of the potential pay off. I started TDF for the same, people here kept recommending it and they all agreed on giving it a chance to get better around the third árt of the book. That´s why I started reading it even after the bore it was TBP, because the pay off and I think that is why people seem to love it, because they focus on the end result but don´t give a second thought about how did they get there.
I read it in like a couple of hours, I didn´t quite enjoy it but it was certainly a different experience, like a fever dream about body horror, glad it was very short.
I wnet in just knowing the basic premise of TBP. I think is like 95% set up and 5% pay off. The las part of the book was quite enjoyable but I had to push too much to get there. It seems is the same for TDF.
Hahaha, yes, I have on my TBR list We Are Legion. I ws going to read it maybe four to five books after TDF.
Maybe a little hard to compare TBP with those…
Thanks, I´ll check it out.
Thanks!
Yeah, I´m just ranting here but you´re right, maybe I´ll stop reading it.
I like the ideas and concepts, that´s why I keep pushing.
American Gods is an excellent example of niche books, I liked it but I can see how it can be a bore for many people.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had Stories of Your Life in my head since I watched just before bed a video on YT about sci-fi books, I didn´t take note of it trusting my memory. Thanks to uoy, I have it now on my Kindle.
It was the book, I had time to read but every time I went to grab my Kindle, my mind immediately thought of any other thing to do, even actual chores.
When I was reading PHM, I had to take my Kindle everywhere. I was reading on the line at the bank!
TDF is making me feel the same TBP made me feel, like it was more enjoyable to watch for the nth time some sit Com than to read and that’s the ffeling I don’t want to have anymore. I want to cut my screen time and to have more reading time instead and TBP made me increase the screen time considerably. TDF is doing it again.
What do you think about Seveneves? It has been on my TR list for years and haven’t gotten around to start yet.
A novel that should have been a science article. I think you just nailed it. Great concept but not a good execution for a novel.
I’m always taking suggestions. Thank you!
Agree, Dark Matter and Recursion are a breeze to read, I want to read Upgrade even though it seems from the reviews it is not at the same level.
