Danielle is not well-liked (for good reason), and everyone goes on and on about how she promised Yohan a life in America. But do people understand that he’s not a child? If the lie hurt him so much he could have left her. Essentially, the implication is either she lets him use her for a visa or he becomes her financial responsibility for life. Does that even make sense?
I also live in a ‘poor’ country and it is not impossible to make money. What happened to the meat shop? He doesn’t even try. Instead, he chooses to live off her dime, refuse to work, and now ROB her and act like he was justified in doing so.
Flat-out refusing to leave unless he is reimbursed was abusive behaviour and scary to watch, no one deserves that, not even Danielle.
Despite all of her flaws, I think Danielle genuinely was in love with Yohan, and also probably flattered by the interest of someone younger and good looking (re: the comments about his dick size, etc). It was surface level, naive and misguided, but I digress. I suspect part of the reason she flipped the script on bringing Yohan to the US was to hopefully prove to herself that he loved her for more than a free ride out of the DR. And now she’s finding out that that’s not the case. Yohan only has one interest, and that’s numero uno.
Some people are calling Yohan’s behavior justified, but I think his coldness and entitlement are a bit disconcerting (well, more than a bit). He’s just so calculated. He has never looked at her with the same warmth she has for him. He was always using her. That’s not ok either. I think he only went out and got an actual job now as a means to get some kind of leverage over her, or out of spite. And IDK, I’d be concerned about moving someone with such an apparent lack of work ethic to my country with me as well. What’s Yohan going to DO in the US? He hasn’t learned English, for starters, nor does he appear to have any specific kind of skillset. Kinda limits the job prospects.
At the end of the day, two people can both be in the wrong. Danielle was naive, plus she’s controlling and self righteous. But that doesn’t excuse Yohan’s extreme sense of entitlement, simply because he is the MAN. There’s something simmering barely under the surface with him, and despite my dislike of Danielle, it does make me a little worried for her.
She genuinely loves him cause he’s tall and has a huge dick, not true love, she’s a sexy tourist, using him for his body.

She rubbed me wrong from the get go. I think Yohan was genuinely into her at first but when he found out she was faking on bringing him to the states and is not interested in making him a father she lost value too him. he decided to go all gangster and gives no fucks now. He flat out stole from her, and it has led him to some genuine shitty behavior. And STILL she is the villain, the day she said “I’ve raised thousands of children” my respect for her bankrupted. Yohan also sucks, just slightly less. (Season is not over he could take the lead)

Regarding what Yohan would do in the US, he would end up working in something laborious like construction. There is a huge Dominican community in NYC. He wouldn’t need to learn English to find work here. His skillset is being a giant man.
