I think in some cases it’s clear that’s what happening when you see Danielle/Mohammed, Yve/Mohamed, Nicole/Azan, David/Lana, Yohan/Danielle, etc.

There are certainly cases that I think are more that the relationship grew more organically. Kobe/Emily, Benjamin/Akinyi, Kara/Guillermo, Debbie/Nazi Santa are more genuine seeming couples.

To answer your question, I think in some cases it’s just manufactured drama for the show and a recurring theme. In some cases, the American is def being played. In some cases, the relationship is transactional.

French here - Well most of the cast outside the Americans come from struggling or 3rd world country like 80%: Morocco we all know that all these maghreb people want to immigrate to the Us it is well known as a billboard (!!!) Same for all scammers from African countries… Hello Niger (!!!) Philippino… South East Asia…Ukrainian or Russian where 80% of them are gold diggers. Again there MIGHT be exception like Korea which is a rich Americanized country, France, where even « low class » has a very high life level and is not desperate to immigrate to the states…… Same with Holland, the Dutsch girl for sure had real feeling for him as she didn’t waste time once she found out he was a jerk, to be happy and back to Amsterdam and not caring about staying in the US. Same with british, it’s probably a real relationship as Brit’s could care less about immigrating and they have specific visa to come to the states if they wanted it.

This is a good post. My husband is younger than me and from another country but he was already in the US when we met. When he proposed to me of course ppl were like “he just wants to be with you for the American advantage” etc. Turns out his family is incredibly wealthy in their country and when I went to visit them I was insanely humbled. I am the poor one in the relationship. People have such misconceptions about non Americans marrying Americans! It’s not always poor person needs american to survive. Sophie certainly doesn’t! I’ve only seen one woman who was successful in business and educated–and she married her equal, then moved to the US. I believe she was from Mexico. Nice couple in their 40s-50s.This couple was on years ago; have forgotten their names.

Because Americans think they are the only “free country” on the planet and everyone is just dying to move to a country full of guns and overturned rights for women. That’s all I can think of, there’s many countries I’d move to before the USA.

I was born in California and last year went to 2 of my nieces weddings, both getting married to Americans all we need is the papers, we’ll work hard to become something once we’re on this side, so yes, foreigners do use Americans to get to the United States to be able to work and make more money. Even me born in California I was raised with a really strong work ethic. literally feel like an impose because I don’t have a college degree yet. I’m up here with the big boys and they’re white collars. Making big boy money. I think most americans don’t know but there is so much difference between US middle class and 3rd world middle class. And do you really think young and beautiful man or woman would marry old and ugly american for other than getting greencard?
