Microbiome transplanation is a big, emerging field of medicine, with fecal transplants being the most studied.

The idea that fecal transplants without C. diff. could have a benefit on someone’s well-being has some evidence in its favor too. It’s also possible that, if we want to solve aging, fecal transplants will be a part of it, because the quality of one’s microbiome tends to decrease as we age, which contributes to the effects of aging.

They’re also exploring things like vaginal microbiome transplants to help people with chronic yeast infections. There’s also some early research showing there might be value in skin microbiome stuff too.

The fact that it involves poop might seem so ridiculous, but having plenty of good bacteria is so important to human health.
