  • “So?” is how I feel about fictional characters being cast as different races in and of itself. If it’s done in a pandery way and/or the piece of media is a turd, that’s different, of course.

But, for example, the Hannibal TV Series is hands down the best part of the Hannibal Lector IP. They made Jack Crawford a black guy after he was white in all previous incarnations. But Laurence Fishburne killed it in that role. His portrayal of Jack was the best yet.

They also made Freddy Lounds a woman, but it was also done well enough and worked for the story, even if Philip Seymour Hoffman is a better actor. It certainly didn’t detract from things at all, though.

Your complaint should go deeper than “this person was this way in this portrayal and this way in another.” Both “this is just pandering in a way that makes the story worse” and “this is a historical drama portraying history inaccurately” are good reasons.

  • I enjoyed it. Agreed about McDowell, and I love how he just introduces himself as “A British Person.”

People often hate when shows try something really different, and I get it, but, when done right, the results are deeply interesting. Like how a lot of people hate “Fly” in Breaking Bad, but it’s genuinely one of the best episodes of the entire series.

I remember when smartphones first started getting big, as a gamer, I was excited to have yet another platform on which to play.

    Ahahahahahahahaha

Obviously, it’s infected a lot of console/PC gaming too, but there are a decent amount of games there where you can pay once and get a complete gaming experience. Mobile is just a hellscape.

I love the world of FF7 so much, and I gave the new mobile game a try (Ever Crisis), and it just pissed me off so much. It’s just not fun at all.

  • Microbiome transplanation is a big, emerging field of medicine, with fecal transplants being the most studied.

The idea that fecal transplants without C. diff. could have a benefit on someone’s well-being has some evidence in its favor too. It’s also possible that, if we want to solve aging, fecal transplants will be a part of it, because the quality of one’s microbiome tends to decrease as we age, which contributes to the effects of aging.

They’re also exploring things like vaginal microbiome transplants to help people with chronic yeast infections. There’s also some early research showing there might be value in skin microbiome stuff too.

The fact that it involves poop might seem so ridiculous, but having plenty of good bacteria is so important to human health.
