Is it just me or is the immortal…. A dumb asshole. You’ve got this kid that has the potential to overtake you someday. You can see this kid is going through a period of extreme emotional upheaval. A kid desperate for a good father figure. And what does the immortals thousands of years on earth tell him to do?

Be a dick to mark and make sure he knows you don’t trust him. Like wtf immortal maybe you could’ve offered to train with him or given him some pointers or literally any other path than the one you chose.

Immortal is honestly an idiot and it’s clear his ego dictates his decision making. Not a fan.

I don’t like this take, it’s basically “this is how I would react if I were a character in Invincible with all the knowledge I have”. You’re the audience, you’re not personally affected by what the characters are going through, and you know way more than each character in the show. Put yourself in the Immortal’s shoes :

    • He and his team were basically betrayed by a double agent.
    • He was killed twice by said double agent, who also went on a rampage and killed thousands of innocent people.
    • He doesn’t know Mark personally, but he knows he’s also a Viltrumite and last time the Immortal trusted a Viltrumite it went horribly wrong.

Immortal’s behaviour is a 100% human and rational.

Yeah, I mean Immortal is sort of an asshole in general, but in this particular case it makes total sense that he’s suspicious.

Mark is the kid of the guy who killed him twice. I’d be reluctant of seeing the kid in a positive light at first glance.

If someone you saw as a friend suddenly ambushed you and killer you and your friends, then killed you a second time, you wouldn’t exactly be comfy around his son now would you

Was it not mentioned that OUR version of Mark is the ONLY version across an entire multiverse that defied his own father? I don’t blame him for being a wee bit untrustworthy to him.

Immortal just experienced one of his colleagues whom he knew for a decade and saw almost die to protect people many times just murder him his friends and thousands of people in an effort to take over the planet, it would be incredibly stupid of him NOT to have any suspicions. Mark’s potential is also precisely WHY he has to be extra cautious because if he’s allowed to get more powerful nobody can stop him from finishing his dads mission. He’s not an egotist, he just got back from a huge betrayal and wants to make sure it never happens again.

Check the comics, their relationship improves. Abe Lincoln over here has a right to dislike Mark right now. Even more so later after our big brain homey brings in the other evil Marks over to “our earth”.

Some really great stuff in the comics that I just can’t wait to see them bring to screen. The first season basically covers ten issues of a 144 issue series if I remember correctly. That fight on the surface of the sun is gonna be siiick.

I’m praying that somehow executive producer Donkey Kong convinced Marvel & DC to be cool and let show Mark interact with Spiderman, Doc Ock, The Avengers, & Batman like comic Mark does in what should be this very season. That crossover comic with spiderman was fantastic, especially the rip on the Marvel superhero names, Mark trying to guess the names of Avengers had me laughing out loud.

I’m wondering if they have the balls to have Bulletproof turn into the rapey invincible 2.0 like in the comics in what I estimate to be season 4. I thought for sure he was just gonna get skipped when her got left out last season.

There is so much awesome that they could potentially animate.

I mean it’s justified his dad killed his entire team right in front of him and then killed him twice. Mark has the potential to surpass him but currently he ain’t beating immortal.

The immortal is a very flawed individual, but i don’t think its an ego or IQ, hes been shaped over 100’s years dying and being reborn in the USA for most of his heroics, It is this history that has shaped him, you don’t think he is jaded or bruised up a bit.

Omni man killed him twice and nearly a third time if you count a certain story arc. So yeah its understandable he doesn’t like mark.

Dang it, I clicked on this hoping I would know when Amber is gonna go away… I even skipped her scenes and I don’t care if there was important context because I am pretty sure she’s just trying to cheer up mark when he’s down or something.

Seems like a fair reaction to a kid whose father is from a race of planet conquerers. His reaction is effectively the same as Cecil’s but he said it to Mark’s face.

Honestly don’t read into it too much.
