Is this normal or are my comprehension skills just poor? The first half of a book I’ll read 20 pages an hour and the second half I can get up to 40 per hour. Its the first book I’ve read by this author and it almost feels like I’m trying to decipher a different language. I have never been the best with comprehension and have ADHD so I have found myself re reading pages constantly.

I just read this as my first Cormac McCarthy and loved it! Not an easy read. My strategy for reading this is that I’d read through a chapter and not care if understood exactly what was going on, but then at the end I’d try to match up the events of what I just read to the “outline” at the start of each chapter and it was kind of fun, to be like oooohhh. There’s one chapter around the halfway point of the book where kid is alone and I feel like everything clicked in that chapter, I understood what was happening, and it was beautiful.

Also, I thought Glanton and the judge were the same person for too long.
